Luke Billings, a former Nestle factory worker, has been awarded £22,216 for wrongful termination after being dismissed for allegedly vaping in a disabled toilet, which triggered a fire alarm and a full evacuation in October 2023. Despite his long tenure, the tribunal found that the company acted unjustly in firing him, as there was no evidence he was vaping on the job and his dismissal was not linked to his previous health issues. In addition to the payout, he will also receive compensation for lost earnings during his recovery period.
