Refugee found dead after Border Patrol release in Buffalo

Officials in upstate New York are calling for an investigation into the death of 56-year-old Nurul Amin Shah Alam, a refugee who was found dead in Buffalo after being released by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Alam, who had multiple medical issues, including visual impairment, was dropped off at a Tim Horton’s by Border Patrol agents without arrangements for his safety, leading to accusations of negligence. His family was not notified of his release, and local leaders emphasize the need for accountability at all governmental levels.
