United Nations human rights chief Volker Turk criticized Israel for its “apparent indifference” to civilian deaths in Gaza, with nearly 70% of verified casualties being women and children. The OHCHR report found 8,119 deaths out of over 34,500 were women and children, urging Israel to comply with international obligations and warning of potential crimes against humanity. Israel rejected the report, accusing the UN of using “unverified information,” amidst ongoing conflict and humanitarian concerns in the region.
