NCAA committee recommends adding flag football as emerging sport for women

An NCAA committee recommended adding flag football to its emerging women’s sports program, with at least 65 schools already sponsoring the sport and more moving in that direction. The NFL has been promoting flag football, including adding it to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games and starting a global ambassador program. To earn NCAA championship status, flag football would need a minimum of 40 schools sponsoring it at the varsity level and meet game and player participation requirements.
