400-Year-Old Shipwreck Discovered in Sweden
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

A 17th-century Swedish Navy shipwreck, buried underwater in central Stockholm for 400 years, has resurfaced due to low Baltic Sea levels, revealing its well-preserved hull. Marine archaeologist Jim Hansson noted that the ship was likely sunk around 1640 as a foundation for a bridge on Kastellholmen Island. While it is one of five similar wrecks in the area, its exact identity remains unknown. The Baltic’s low water levels, attributed to high atmospheric pressure, have made this shipwreck more visible than ever before.
