Nasa helicopters use green waves to search for ice on Mars

Nasa has unveiled a new artist’s impression of its upcoming SkyFall helicopter mission set to launch in late 2028. The image depicts three helicopters flying over Mars, equipped to search for subsurface ice using advanced technology. These helicopters will employ instruments for radar mapping, near-infrared imaging, photography, and temperature monitoring, crucial for detecting ice beneath the Martian surface. The SkyFall helicopters are designed with a flexible antenna that allows for close-range operations without damage upon landing. Unlike Nasa’s Ingenuity helicopter, which relied on the Perseverance rover for communications, SkyFall will transmit data independently to orbiting spacecraft.
