NASA’s 32-story-tall Space Launch System (SLS) rocket commenced its 4-mile journey to launch pad 39B, marking a significant milestone in preparation for the Artemis II mission, scheduled for early February. Weighing 5.7 million pounds, the rocket was transported at under 1 mph by an upgraded Apollo-era crawler-transporter. The Artemis II crew, including commander Reid Wiseman, will embark on a lunar mission, testing the Orion crew capsule’s capabilities. Following the rocket’s arrival, engineers will conduct tests leading to a critical fueling rehearsal on February 2.
