Nagasaki’s Immaculate Conception Cathedral was rebuilt in 1959 after being almost completely destroyed in the explosion.
Nagasaki commemorates the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombing with its cathedral’s twin bells ringing together for the first time since 1945. The event, attended by representatives from nearly 100 countries, marks not only the tragedy of the bombing but also a symbol of peace and recovery, highlighted by fundraising efforts led by James Nolan for a new bell.
