’MY HEART SANK’: Trial hears diapers, mittens set off search for family found frozen

During the trial of two accused human smugglers, witness Daniel Huguley testified that the discovery of diapers, baby wipes, mittens, and toy cars near the border prompted a search for missing migrants. After finding these items in a backpack, Huguley alerted a supervisor, indicating that more people were still unaccounted for. Soon after, the frozen bodies of a family – Jagdish Patel, Vaishaliben Patel, Vihangi, and Dharmik – were found by the RCMP near the Canadian border, leading to a tragic outcome.
