An Anglican priest, Reverend Vianney Douglas from the Maori Mission Anglican Church in Tauranga, was present at the Mount Maunganui landslide site on Saturday morning to support rescue teams. Emergency officials have reached the debris-covered campground ablution block and are expected to make discoveries in that area. Douglas praised the rescuers for their efforts throughout the night as they continue to search for potential victims. Her presence included performing a karakia to offer spiritual support during the crisis.
