Auckland’s West Harbour experienced severe damage as strong winds, reaching gusts of 100km/h, struck the area, with residents likening the event to a tornado. Trees fell on homes, roofs lost tiles, and windows were shattered, leaving many houses affected, although the MetService has not confirmed the event as a tornado.
