Mould found in nearly half the Royal Canadian Navy's frigates

Mould has been found in nearly half of the Royal Canadian Navy’s 12 Halifax-class frigates, with five ships affected, including HMCS Vancouver, which reported small amounts this year in high-humidity areas. A 2018 report indicated that HMCS Winnipeg had higher-than-normal mould spore levels during a voyage, prompting the military to enhance air quality measures. Following a recent court case regarding health issues from mould exposure, National Defence confirmed ongoing air quality assessments and cleaning protocols to ensure a safe working environment on board.
