Mercedes and BMW luxury cars will be excluded from the Motability scheme, which allows personal independence payment claimants to lease vehicles due to mobility issues, as announced ahead of the 2025 UK Budget. Other brands like Audi, Lexus, and Alfa Romeo will also be removed, with Motability Operations focusing on British-built cars, aiming for 50% of its offerings to come from UK factories by 2035. This change follows previous criticism regarding the types of cars available under the scheme.
