More than 2,700 heat-related deaths have been recorded in England and Wales due to unprecedented heatwaves in May and June, with researchers attributing 550 deaths to the heat from May 21 to 29 and nearly 2,200 from June 18 to 28. Scientists from Imperial College London and other institutions linked these extreme temperatures to climate change, suggesting that they were as much as 4C higher than normal. The UK Health Security Agency is set to release official estimates soon, highlighting the increasing risks posed by climate change.
