Starting Saturday, over 120 doctors’ clinics in Western Australia will switch to full bulk billing as part of new Federal Government incentives tied to Anthony Albanese’s $8.5 billion Medicare promise. Health Minister Mark Butler announced that 126 clinics will participate, increasing access to bulk billing for patients statewide. The initiative aims for 90% of GP visits to be bulk billed by 2030, with added incentives for clinics that fully adopt this model. The Australian Medical Association has welcomed the changes but calls for further reforms to Medicare rebates for longer consultations, addressing the complexities of modern patient care.
