This summer, an additional 1 million people have flocked to beaches across NSW compared to last year, leading to over 4 million visits and more than 1000 rescues by Surf Life Saving NSW. Lifeguards are working tirelessly to keep up with the increased demand, with emergency response beacons being installed on unpatrolled beaches to improve safety and enable quicker assistance. The spike in beach visits has prompted the need for better resources and more lifeguard support, with additional ERBs set to be installed in various locations along the NSW coastline.
