Moment Sycamore Gap tree is ‘felled by two friends’ shown to court

In court, footage of the Sycamore Gap tree’s destruction was presented, showing the tree being cut down in under three minutes by Daniel Graham, 39, and Adam Carruthers, 32, who face charges of criminal damage. The video, recorded on Graham’s iPhone, features the sounds of a chainsaw and depicts the tree falling after being enhanced by police experts. Prosecutors allege the two men caused £622,191 in damage to the historic tree and Hadrian’s Wall, with evidence including the video’s location metadata confirming it was filmed at Sycamore Gap.
