MLS doubles first-team presence in U.S. Open Cup

MLS announced guidelines for their 30 teams in 2025 and 2026 cup competitions, with increased U.S. Open Cup presence and reduced Leagues Cup teams. 18 MLS sides will compete in the Leagues Cup, while 16 senior teams and 10 MLS Next Pro teams will participate in the U.S. Open Cup, with additional involvement in the Concacaf Champions Cup and Canadian Championship outlined by the league.
