John Makatoa Lomu, the younger brother of All Blacks legend Jonah Lomu, pleaded guilty to drug possession with intent to supply after using his position as a FedEx ramp agent to facilitate drug smuggling into New Zealand. In 2023, Customs officials noticed suspicious packages at Auckland Airport that appeared tampered with, leading to an investigation. Lomu was employed at a FedEx depot in East Tāmaki when he committed the offenses. This incident marks a significant legal consequence for Lomu following the discovery of his actions.
