On November 9, Mitchell runners participated in the Nike Heartland Regional cross country meet at Yankton Trail Park. In the boys championship 5K, state champion Silas Holdeman placed 211th, while Hunter Patton finished 287th. Eighth-grader Laura Nemec took 92nd in the girls Rising Stars 5K, and Micah Bennett finished 123rd in the boys Rising Stars. Sioux Falls Lincoln’s boys team and Sioux Falls Christian Chargers girls team qualified for the Nike Cross Country nationals in December.
