What You Need to Know
• Christopher Boone Crimmins, 34, is charged with second-degree manslaughter for a fatal incident in Apple Valley.
• Tyler Anthony Lynch, 26, died after Crimmins allegedly crushed his head with a hydraulic grapple during work.
• Crimmins faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted, with bail set at $40,000 unconditional.

Christopher Boone Crimmins, a 34-year-old man, has been charged with second-degree manslaughter following the death of his co-worker, Tyler Anthony Lynch, 26, in Apple Valley. The incident occurred during a tree-trimming job on Thursday afternoon when Crimmins reportedly operated a truck-mounted hydraulic grapple that closed on Lynch’s head. Crimmins was allegedly fooling around with the grapple, focusing on its shadow rather than Lynch, leading to the fatal accident. Emergency responders found Lynch on the ground with severe head injuries and significant blood loss. Crimmins, who held the only commercial license to operate the machine, is currently out of Dakota County Jail records, and his next court appearance is scheduled for September 10.

Why It Matters

This incident highlights the dangers associated with operating heavy machinery in work environments, particularly when safety protocols are not strictly followed. The case raises questions about workplace safety regulations and the responsibilities of licensed operators. With Crimmins facing serious legal consequences, it underscores the potential for tragic outcomes in seemingly routine tasks when caution is not exercised. The legal proceedings will likely draw attention to the importance of safety training and adherence to operational guidelines in the industry.
