Military Transport Plane Crashes in Sudan, Crew Killed
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

All crew members killed in crash at Port Sudan airbase as paramilitary forces seize strategic oil facility in West Kordofan.

An Ilyushin Il-76 military transport aircraft crashed at the Osman Digna airbase in Port Sudan, killing all crew members due to a technical malfunction. This incident coincides with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) seizing the Heglig oilfield, a significant blow to Sudan’s military government. The ongoing conflict has resulted in tens of thousands dead and over 12 million displaced since April 2023, with a dire food crisis affecting 20 million people. As the RSF gains ground, concerns grow over the escalating violence and humanitarian crisis in Sudan.
