Microsoft fires employee protestor who called AI boss a ‘war profiteer’

Microsoft has fired an employee, Ibtihal Aboussad, for disrupting the company’s 50th-anniversary event by accusing the AI CEO of being a “war profiteer” and urging Microsoft to stop using AI for genocide in their region. Aboussad and another protester, Vaniya Agrawal, also sent emails to coworkers calling for Microsoft to cut contracts with the Israeli government. Aboussad has been terminated, while Agrawal resigned and was immediately dismissed after giving her two weeks’ notice.
