Mexico expresses support for Cuba after oil shipment cancellation
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum emphasized Mexico’s solidarity with Cuba amid reports of a halted oil shipment, stating that any decision to provide oil is a “sovereign decision” for humanitarian reasons. Mexico has been a key supplier of oil to Cuba, especially as Venezuela’s shipments have dwindled. Concerns within Sheinbaum’s government about U.S. relations have prompted a review of ongoing shipments. Last year, Mexico supplied approximately 5,000 barrels per day, making its role crucial for Cuba’s energy needs.
