Police have identified Brett Evans, 38, of Staveley, Ashburton, as the man who died in an avalanche in the Southern Alps while leading a group for Methven Heliski. Alpine Guides confirmed Evans’ death on Pito Peak, expressing their sorrow for the loss. Fortunately, the other skiers in the group were unharmed.
