Meta, Google accused of ‘censorship’ for blocking women’s health ads but allowing erectile dysfunction campaigns

Femtech companies have accused major online platforms like Meta, LinkedIn, Google, and Amazon of bias and discrimination against women’s health content, claiming that posts and adverts about women’s health are being blocked while content about erectile dysfunction is allowed. These companies have filed formal complaints to the European Commission, citing vague and inconsistent reasons for the removal or restriction of women’s health content, such as menopause, endometriosis, and infertility. The anti-censorship campaign group CensHERship has provided evidence of medically accurate content being labeled as ‘adult’ or ‘political’, calling for an investigation into the platforms’ moderation policies to ensure that women can freely discuss their health using anatomically correct language.
