Screen legend Meryl Streep revealed on The Graham Norton Show in 2015 that she missed out on a major role in the 1976 King Kong remake due to her looks, as the director’s son thought she was “ugly.” Streep had been seen in a play and brought to meet the director, Dino De Laurentiis, but ultimately did not get the part. Despite this setback, Streep’s successful career has proven that talent and perseverance are more important than appearance in the entertainment industry.

‘Knifeman’ rams car into Army barracks ‘armed with explosives & shouting at guards’ as bomb squad swoops
The Bomb squad was called to detonate a car after a man drove through the barriers of a disused Army barracks in Aldershot. The man, armed with explosives, shouted at guards before being arrested by Hampshire Constabulary. The 54-year-old man was taken into custody on suspicion of possessing a knife blade in a public place and criminal damage, with the incident not currently being treated as terror-related.
