UNICEF’s representative in Haiti, Geetanjali Narayan, reported that armed groups destroyed 47 schools in Port-au-Prince last month, adding to the 284 schools destroyed in 2024. Children, including those as young as eight, are being recruited into armed groups, with up to half of members being children. UNICEF is working to support the release and reintegration of child soldiers, but faces funding challenges impacting critical interventions and education support for over half a million children in Haiti.
