Frank Siller, Chairman and CEO of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, has released a memoir titled “Let Us Do Good,” which honors his brother Stephen Siller, a firefighter who died in the 9/11 attacks. The book recounts Stephen’s courageous run through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to save others on that fateful day and explores the family’s enduring legacy of service. In conjunction with the memoir, the foundation is undertaking a “Steel Across America” tour, transporting a 16,900-pound steel beam from the South Tower across the United States. This initiative aims to educate future generations about the events of September 11, 2001, by visiting over 20 states and culminating in a display at MetLife Stadium on the 25th anniversary of the attacks. The foundation also plans to honor the memory of the 343 firefighters lost on 9/11 by providing 343 mortgage-free homes to families of fallen service members and first responders this year.

Why It Matters

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation was established to honor the legacy of Stephen Siller and has played a significant role in supporting first responders and military veterans. As the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks approaches, the “Steel Across America” tour serves to reinforce the importance of remembering the tragedy and the heroes who emerged from it. With nearly 3,000 lives lost, including 343 firefighters, the attacks marked a pivotal moment in U.S. history, leading to widespread changes in national security and emergency response protocols. The foundation’s ongoing efforts to provide housing and support for affected families highlight the long-lasting impact of 9/11 on American society.
