The Red Arrows will perform a flypast over Buckingham Palace on May 5 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day, with thousands expected to line the route. The aerial display will include over 20 military aircraft, including P8 Poseidons and Typhoon fast jets, starting over the North Sea and moving inland through East Anglia and London. The flight path areas will be restricted for safety, and the Red Arrows, based at RAF Waddington, are known for flying closely together, sometimes as close as 6 feet apart during their performances.
