On a family holiday in Pahalgam, Kashmir, Girish Sharma and his wife Prema were horrified to learn of a terrorist attack that killed 26 people, mostly tourists, prompting outrage and demands for accountability in India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi vowed to retaliate against the terrorists, linking them to Pakistan, which denied involvement and accused India of escalating tensions. The attack, targeting non-Muslims, has intensified public anger and backlash against Muslims in India, marking a significant political setback for Modi amid rising violence and renewed fears over tourism in the region.
