Manchester United and Chelsea are set to send scouts to Villa Park to observe Argentine forward Santiago Castro during the Europa League quarter-final clash between Aston Villa and Bologna. Castro, a 21-year-old Under-20 international, has been making waves in Italy, scoring 11 goals and providing four assists in 44 appearances this season. As Villa leads 3-1 heading into the second leg, Castro will be looking to enhance his profile further. Additionally, both clubs may also be interested in assessing Morgan Rogers, another player linked with a move to the Premier League. Rogers has expressed a desire to leave Villa regardless of their Champions League qualification status and has recorded 10 goals and eight assists in 46 matches this season.

Why It Matters

The interest in Santiago Castro and Morgan Rogers reflects the growing trend of Premier League clubs scouting young talent from abroad, particularly in European competitions. With financial resources at their disposal, top clubs are increasingly looking to secure emerging players who can contribute both immediately and in the future. Historically, scouting in the Europa League has led to successful signings, as clubs seek to bolster their squads while navigating competitive domestic and international landscapes. The performances of these players could significantly influence their market value as the summer transfer window approaches.
