A 33-year-old mountaineer from Salzburg died after her boyfriend left her alone for 6.5 hours on Austria’s Grossglockner mountain to seek help. Charged with manslaughter by gross negligence, the experienced climber failed to adequately prepare for the harsh conditions and left his partner unprotected just 165 feet from the summit. Despite attempts to call for rescue, she was found dead the following morning. His trial is scheduled for February 19, 2026.
