An EasyJet passenger, Nicola Cristiano, was sentenced to six years in prison for attempted rape on a flight from Naples to Edinburgh on May 13, 2025. The 45-year-old Italian man changed seats to sit next to a woman and assaulted her by attempting to force her to touch his exposed groin. Following the incident, the victim reported him to the cabin crew, leading to his arrest upon landing. Judge Alison Stirling noted the lasting impact on the victim’s sense of safety and confirmed Cristiano would be deported after serving his sentence.
