A man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting Minister for Children and Green Party leader Roderic O’Gorman during an election canvass in Dublin. The incident occurred on a doorstep, where O’Gorman was hit and physically assaulted, but was unharmed thanks to intervention by a member of An Garda Síochána. The man in his 30s has been charged and is set to appear before Blanchardstown District Court, prompting O’Gorman to express concern over the rise in abuse and threats towards politicians driven by misinformation on social media.
