A serious car crash occurred on South Western Highway in Burekup on Friday evening, leaving one person with critical injuries. The collision, involving two vehicles, took place just after 5 PM, prompting an immediate response from emergency services. Three St John ambulance crews attended the scene, where they worked to assist the critically injured individual. As a result of the accident, a section of the highway between Raymond Road and Wilman Wadandi Highway has been closed, and Main Roads WA has advised drivers to find alternative routes. No other injuries have been reported at this time.

Why It Matters

Traffic accidents on major highways can significantly impact public safety and transportation routes. Historically, the South Western Highway has been a critical artery for both local and regional traffic in Western Australia, often experiencing heavy use. Collisions on this highway can lead to prolonged closures, affecting commuters and transport logistics. Understanding the frequency and severity of such incidents can inform road safety measures and improvements in traffic management.
