A magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck Russia’s Kamchatka region, described as an “aftershock” of a previous 8.8 quake in July, prompting tsunami warnings, though damage has not been reported. The quake, attributed to shallow reverse faulting, occurred at a depth of 10km and was followed by aftershocks up to 5.8, with some tsunami waves measuring up to 62 centimeters.
