During the ice dance competition at the 2026 Winter Olympics, Madison Chock and Evan Bates finished just 1.43 points behind France’s Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron, leading to discussions about the need for more transparent judging. Although the Americans posted a world-best score and delivered a strong performance, they were edged out due to subjective scoring, including a significant margin from a French judge. Chock expressed pride in their journey and performances, while Bates emphasized their personal satisfaction with their skate. The duo is now considering their future plans, including the upcoming World Figure Skating Championships in Prague.
