Sky News Washington Correspondent Annelise Nielsen has visited Nikki Haley’s hometown of Bamberg to explore why many voted for Donald Trump in the South Carolina primary.
Haley became governor with a key endorsement from Sarah Palin, but the deeply conservative part of the south is now all-in for Trump.
“Trump’s such a booming figure … so it’s going to be tough but evidently she sees a way to get there so we wish her well,” said Bamberg Mayor Nancy Foster.
Local resident Katie Lapp said she voted for Trump because she liked what he did as president.
“It was awesome – I’m older and I thoroughly enjoyed what he was doing for the country and the direction it was going and I’d love to see that happen for my kids and grandkids,” she said.
