Last week, a freak lightning strike killed seven lambs on a Mayfield farm owned by James McCormick of Manaton Farms. McCormick discovered the dead lambs near a tree with obvious lightning damage, speculating that they were sheltering from the rain when the strike occurred. While the farm continues on, the loss of the lambs, valued at $150 each, is significant, highlighting the unpredictable nature of natural events like lightning strikes.
