Locals told to buy earplugs to cope with faulty lighthouse alarm which sounds every 13 seconds

Disgruntled Cornwall locals are being advised to wear earplugs as the Longships Lighthouse has been emitting an ear-splitting beep every 13 seconds for a week, even in clear skies. Engineers are waiting for a part to repair the malfunctioning fog sensing mechanism, which is crucial for warning sailors of foggy conditions. Trinity House is aware of the issue and is awaiting delivery of the part to fix the problem, but the maintenance crew will have to wait for calm weather to install it.
