Joshua Alexander, a 17-year-old teenager, has been sentenced to life in prison for fatally shooting Lianne Gordon, a mother of two, in the head as she tried to shield her children from a gang feud in Hackney. Gordon, who had just returned from a holiday in Jamaica, became an unintended victim of the ongoing violence between rival neighborhood gangs. Despite the killer wearing a balaclava, Gordon’s daughter was able to identify him as he shot her mother in their home, leading to Alexander’s conviction for the murder.
