The Green Bay Packers are seeking a solution for their backup quarterback position following Malik Willis’s departure to the Miami Dolphins on a three-year deal. With only Jordan Love, Desmond Ridder, and Kyle McCord on the roster, the Packers face a challenge in bolstering their quarterback depth ahead of the 2026 season. A potential target for trade is Will Levis from the Tennessee Titans, who has been struggling since his time as a starter in 2024. Levis, who missed the entire 2025 season due to shoulder surgery, could be a low-cost option for Green Bay, with analysts suggesting that a late Day 3 draft pick may suffice for the Titans to part with him. This move could provide the Packers with a backup option that fits their offensive system.
Why It Matters
The Packers’ need for a reliable backup quarterback is underscored by the fact that they have lost their previous backup to free agency and lack experience behind their starter. Historically, teams that fail to address quarterback depth can suffer significant setbacks, particularly if the starter faces injury. Levis’s situation in Tennessee is precarious, as he is competing with last year’s No. 1 overall draft pick, Cam Ward, further diminishing his trade value. By potentially acquiring Levis, the Packers could secure a player with untapped potential while maintaining flexibility in their roster for the upcoming seasons.
