Wilkens’ family announced the news but did not divulge a cause of death of the Basketball Hall of Fame player and coach.
Lenny Wilkens, a three-time Basketball Hall of Fame inductee, passed away at 88, surrounded by family, with no cause of death disclosed. Renowned as a player and coach, he led the Seattle SuperSonics to an NBA title in 1979 and became the first NBA coach to achieve 1,000 wins. Wilkens was also an assistant coach for the gold-winning 1992 US Olympic team. His contributions to basketball earned him numerous accolades, solidifying his legacy as one of the sport’s greats.
