San Mateo County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call from the California Highway Patrol regarding a large bull running loose along Highway 35 on Tuesday evening. After hours of unsuccessful attempts to corral the animal, they enlisted the help of Samuel Ramos Palomino, a foreman with 35 years of experience working with large animals. Palomino arrived shortly after midnight, prepared his truck and livestock trailer, and worked alongside deputies and CHP officers to safely capture the bull after following it for several miles. The team successfully secured the bull, and Palomino provided a safe location for it until it could be returned home at dawn. The sheriff’s department praised Palomino’s assistance, noting that his efforts likely prevented potential accidents on the busy highway.

Why It Matters

Loose animals on highways can pose significant risks to motorists, leading to serious accidents and injuries. Instances of livestock escaping enclosures are not uncommon, especially in rural areas where livestock farming is prevalent. The quick response by Palomino, leveraging his expertise, highlights the importance of community involvement in resolving such incidents. Moreover, this event underscores the need for effective animal control measures to ensure public safety on roadways.
