Lanarkshire Conservative politicians describe local homelessness levels as “scandalous”

Lanarkshire Conservative politicians Meghan Gallacher and Graham Simpson have condemned local homelessness levels as “scandalous” following data showing a surge in homelessness applications in Scotland, reaching a peak not seen since 2011-12. Last year, 40,685 households were assessed as homeless or at risk of homelessness, while the number of children in temporary accommodation also hit record highs, reflecting a growing crisis in the region.
