A report by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation highlights the need for increased government spending on benefits, including lifting the two child benefit cap, to address child poverty in the UK. With 4.33 million children living in poverty, economic growth alone is deemed insufficient to alleviate the issue, as stated by JRF chief executive Paul Kissack. Despite government efforts to increase the living wage and support families through changes to Universal Credit, the opposition criticizes the lack of substantial action in tackling the growing poverty crisis.
