L.A. County gears up for Trump with millions for immigrants, trangender residents

Los Angeles County supervisors are preparing for another Trump presidency by allocating millions of dollars to support immigrants and transgender residents who may be targeted by the incoming administration. Motions passed include $5.5 million for legal services for immigrants, the creation of a county task force on immigration policy, and a campaign to educate immigrants on their legal rights. Additionally, a $7 million pilot program to support organizations serving transgender individuals in L.A. County was approved. The city of Los Angeles is also moving forward with becoming a “sanctuary city” to protect immigrants. Advocates praised the county for taking concrete steps to protect vulnerable communities in the face of potential threats from the federal government.
