A knifeman, Anthony Esan, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the attempted murder of Lieutenant Colonel Mark Teeton, whom he ambushed outside Brompton Barracks on July 23, 2024. Esan, armed with two knives, targeted Teeton due to his military appearance, influenced by psychosis and prior research on soldier attacks. Lt Col Teeton’s wife, Eileen, witnessed the brutal assault and described its horror. The judge deemed Esan a significant public risk, ordering him to remain in a high-security psychiatric facility indefinitely.
