The Kirby Institute reports a doubling of syphilis and gonorrhoea cases in Australia over the past decade, with 5,866 syphilis and 44,210 gonorrhoea diagnoses in 2024, raising concerns about undetected STIs. Higher rates among First Nations Australians highlight the need for culturally safe health initiatives, while the report emphasizes the importance of regular testing and safe sex practices to prevent severe health complications.
